Kibera slum

I hope to be spending some time in a school in Kibera.  This is the largest slum in Africa with over 1 million people living in shacks, 80% with no electricity, one latrine for every 50 shacks, limited water,  50% unemployment, and virtually no education.

Check out the video link if you would like to see life in Kibera.

How busy is it?

Well its one week in Cincinnati grading AP Human Geography exams.  Don't laugh, I like Cincinnati.  I'll be home for about 4 days before heading off to Nairobi, Kenya while volunteering in the slums and then the savannah for two weeks, amazingly cool. I'll tell you more about it as we go.  I'll get about 3 days rest before flying to China for 5 weeks!!!  The blogging will continue from Wuxi, Beijing, and Zhenghzhou.
I'm looking forward to all these experiences.
To culminate my summer, my daughter is going to make me a grandfather in August!!!  What a memorable summer ahead.

Wow! Summer 2012 is gonna be crazy!  Unbelievably I'll be going to Africa for the very first time and then returning to China for the first time since 2005.  More to come.
